Barry White – ‘Your Sweetness Is My Weakness’

Friday’s second instalment of ‘Crucial und Fresh!’ was a ripper. Thanks to all that battled past the security and made it down stairs to make it a capacity crowd. We’ve got some interesting developments in the pipeline for the next outing.

Today’s track is one that I’ve been meaning to post for quite some time now. Barry White’s 1978 ‘Your Sweetness is My Weakness’ is an all time favourite and I finally managed to pick up the extended version. Pressed on 12 inch white vinyl, with shuffling high hats, trademark strings and colossal horns, this is an eight minute epic. Hang around for last last two minutes.

Theodore DeReese “Teddy” Pendergrass

Teddy Pendergrass requires little or no introduction. Rather than lifting everyone else’s text,  those that don’t know and want to know check his life story here. It is well worth glancing over and it is not without tradegy.

Rather than focus on his story I thought it would be appropriate just to share three personal favourite tracks from the man himself.

The first two ‘Only You’ & ‘Take Me In Your Arms Tonight’ are sure fire Disco heaters.  ‘Joy’ comes few years later on a New Jack Swing tip..

You Got The Stuff

This isn’t far off the original, it’s rare and well worth waiting for the breakdown.
